Romantic Views from Mt. Bonnell

Mount Bonnell, one of the highest points in Austin, offers a panoramic view of the city and Lake Austin. Located down a long and winding road off of FM 2222, the point is a great place for family picnics, hiking or even a romantic date. A legend says that Mount Bonnell was formerly called Antoinette’s Leap, after a damsel jumped to her death to escape being captured by Native Americans who killed her lover. Native vegetation surrounds the cliff, giving a great feel for the natural Central Texas environment that people rarely get to see, and the sunset views from this point are hard to beat. Nothing says romance like nature.
