So maybe I am just out of the loop or something, but I didn’t know about the BMX park/trails on ninth street off of Lamar. It is actually pretty famous…and fun to watch. I showed up to get a glimpse of the bike riders and talk to some of the locals there, and Ninth Street BMX is pretty well known by all BMXers. It is visited by all ages of locals here in Austin, and a pit stop for many Pro BMXers while they are on the road.
It is a great atmosphere and I recommend it for anyone who wants a little extreme biking experience. (Note – no mountain bikes allowed). There are kid courses, dirt jumps, rhythms and large table top jumps. So go, try it out, or just watch everyone else do high jumps in the air…it is pretty cool! Advice from the locals: best time to ride is right before the sun goes down.
Check out more at http://www.ninthstreetbmx.com/. The video posted is of a few riders so you can get a taste of what the jumps look like…the guy in the white shirt is actually a Pro!
