So, Mt. Bonnell is one of those Austin-y places that YOU have to go to while being in Austin.
As Stephanie so eloquently put it, “Nothing says romance like nature.” and I would agree to some extent.
But, I have also been to Mt. Bonnell at night and it hasn’t always been romantic.
Sure, they have great views (especially of July 4 fireworks) and it’s a great place to have an after-dinner picnic.
It’s also got a reputation for being a popular make out spot in Austin (yeah I said it.)
But, just about everytime I have been there at night I have run into some kind of stoner asking if 1) I have any on hand or 2) if I am interested
am I the only one with these experiences?

Great post! It’s very true about the makeouts at Bonnell… I feel like a good friend of mine did that very same thing a few hours ago! Also, how much do the stoners charge?…Not that I am interested….

Miss Beaverhausen, you should tell this friend of yours to watch out for old Mexican ladies who climb up the mountain at 5am and sing creepy songs. It’s a more common phenomenon than one might think.

that picture sure looks awesome. :] I’ve been there a couple of times and every time I go there are kids doing it on the rock next to me.. its very awkward and scary to hear them so usually I just flock to the other side of the scenery and forget about the couple next to us… doing.. it..

I’ve never done anything interesting at Mt. Bonnell. The only thing I’ve done is look at the scenery and boring stuff like that. Not once have I made my way with a lady friend or a weed.

One time I went with Justin, Narisa, and Aaron on a summer night at 2am because there was a meteor shower. It was fun because we didn’t plan it out or anything but just went. I think we were actually swimming when we decided to go. Once we arrived, there were a couple of other people there drinking. If I recall correctly, one of them through up next to us, too. I was a beautiful experience.
